She is a member of Houston Association of REALTORS \, an active Rotarian with the Dickinson Rotary Club and serve on several local\n\nboards. In 1992\, Doreen joined Dell Inc. based in Austin\, TX\, she held various corporate roles\, including account executive.  In 2008\, after fifteen years Doreen decided to leave corporate America and started her own company\, Mainland Testing Center\, a ten-year award-winning occupational wellness clinic that she sold. Doreen became a certified John Maxwell leadership coach in 2018\, and launched Open for Business Consulting\, LLC\, providing leadership coaching\, confidence building\, and the value of connecting through volunteerism and giving back.  That same year\, she became a columnist for the Galveston Daily News.  She is engaged in her community\, writing about and shining a light on ordinary people doing extraordinary things.2024\, she decided it was time to fulfill one of the many items on her bucket list\, becoming a Galveston County Master Gardener.  Doreen is an avid gardener\, runner and enjoys traveling.
