Texas City – La Marque Chamber Hires Incoming President

The Texas City – La Marque Chamber of Commerce announces the addition of Page Michel, IOM, as Incoming President.  Page will begin her tenure on July 15, 2020.  Page comes to the Chamber with an abundance of experience and knowledge.   The announced retirement of current President Jenny Senter, which will be effective December 31, 2020, led the Chamber Board of Directors to adopt a Succession Plan that encompassed the ability to bring in an Incoming President to work alongside leadership for the remainder of 2020.  Page will then move forward in the role of President beginning in January, 2021.  Rusty Plackemeier, 2020 Chairman of the Board, added, “Our organization is poised for 2021 with Page’s experience and talent.  She brings a wide variety of leadership skills that will grow and elevate our already successful Chamber.”

Page comes to Texas City and La Marque from Brenham, Texas, where she led the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, tourism bureau and economic development office for almost two decades.  Recently, Page has coordinated business development for Community Matter, Inc.  Page’s leadership, initiative and financial acumen will be great assets.  From  a statewide perspective, Page has served as President of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Executives and has served on the Board of Directors of  both Texas Association of Business as well as the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Association and served as a Board member of the Association of Texas Leadership Programs.  Page received the Distinguished Service Award from Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives in 2015 and is certified as an IOM by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Chairman Elect for 2021, Georgia Meyer, reflected, “Our communities of Texas City and La Marque will gain immensely from Page’s experience, not only in the Chamber profession, but also her knowledge of economic development. “

The Search Committee, which was activated in December 2019, did an extensive outreach of candidates and thorough series of interviews in seeking this important role to lead the 50-year-old, well respected organization.  With strong emphasis on vision, management and financial acumen, the Search Committee took great extremes to determine the final candidate for this position.

Page Michel will assume the role of President as only the third President to lead the Texas City – La Marque Chamber in the past 33 years, having been preceded by Jimmy Hayley and Jenny Senter.  Chamber President, Jenny Senter added “I welcome and embrace the addition of Page Michel to our team.  Page is a highly respected Chamber professional who is recognized across Texas as a leader and innovative, forward-thinking individual.  Our Chamber will be in excellent hands with Page as President.   I look forward to her energy and insight.”
