About Us

Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit Christian housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states and about 70 countries. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat’s mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

The organization operates through independent, locally-run, nonprofit affiliates. Each affiliate coordinates all fund raising, building site selection, family selection and support, home construction, and mortgage servicing within its local area.

Since 1991, Bay Area Habitat for Humanity has built over 170 homes. Our area covers southeast Harris County, Galveston County, and east Brazoria County, stretching from La Porte to Galveston Island and from Pearland/Alvin to Galveston Bay. Some of our key cities also include Friendswood, Dickinson, Texas City, La Marque, and League City.

Habitat for Humanity is not a governmental agency. Homes are funded through individuals, churches, small businesses, large companies, foundations, service organizations, and local clubs.
