Director, Office of Planning, Effectiveness, Assessment & Research

Class Summary
Directs the planning, research, implementation, administration and evaluation of college-wide institutional effectiveness, assessment, and planning for programs. Provides leadership for the continuous improvement of college programs and services. Provides coaching and training related to the use of data, analysis and information to inform decision making and enhance institutional effectiveness.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience
Master’s degree or higher in social sciences, education, or related field, and five (5) years of professional research and data analysis management experience, and involvement with assessment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Demonstrate capacity for leadership of staff and area.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Doctorate in relevant field and previous leadership experience in institutional research, effectiveness, and assessment.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills
• Demonstrated experience with data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and a proven ability to conduct high-level analysis for planning, policy development, assessment, and evaluation of activities.
• Experience managing data quality and integrity, with a strong understanding of formalized approaches to system design and maintenance, policy development, and procedures.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Ability to write simple and/or complex queries from databases to extract, prepare, and analyze data for reports.
• Knowledge of external reporting requirements of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and US Department of Education (IPEDS).
• Experience with student information systems (e.g. Colleague).
• Experience with statistical software such as SPSS or SAS.
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Zogotech.
• Experience with survey software such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively and serve a broad range of clients and collaborators.
• Working knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices associated with institutional planning, evaluation, and research.
• Demonstrated knowledge and leadership experience in student success strategies and institutional effectiveness strategies.
• Ability to make timely decisions and manage time, projects, and resources to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of local, regional, and national assessment issues.
• Prepare, recommend, and administer budgets.
• Supervise assigned staff.

Job Duties
1. Directs data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and conducts high-level analysis for planning, policy development, assessment, and evaluation of activities.
2. Collaborates with faculty and staff, develops and administers systematic, broad based and interrelated research, planning and evaluation processes.
3. Develops and implements strategies to assess and improve institutional effectiveness.
4. Coordinates and implements college-wide outcomes assessment programs; analyzes findings from assessment data and makes recommendations to college administration to enhance program outcomes and/or departmental services.
5. Manage external reporting requirements of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and US Department of Education (IPEDS).
6. Designs and implements college planning processes linked to budgeting.
7. Provides direction, leadership and advice to administrators, faculty and others involved in the design, development, evaluation and funding of programs and services; makes recommendations for curriculum and pedagogical changes and continuous improvement of instruction; analyzes and disseminates results of institutional effectiveness research to internal and external constituencies.
8. Provides college-wide research and planning support for accreditation efforts with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), to include writing reports for the required institutional effectiveness standards.
9. Write simple and/or complex queries from databases to extract, prepare, and analyze data for reports.
10. Serves on appropriate committees.
11. Supervises assigned staff.
12. Performs related duties as assigned.
13. Analyzes findings from assessment data and makes recommendations to college administration to enhance program outcomes and/or departmental services.

Minimum Salary Range $71,252
Mid Point Salary Range .
Maximum Salary Range $96,190
